Timing on the Hand Traditionally there has been a theory that the timing of major events is marked at certain distances along the 3 major lines. Certainly, the markings on the major lines are significant, but measuring the timing can be confusing. Some hands show a short Life Line, eventhough the life itself may prove to be long in years. That short line may or may not be augmented by joining with another line later, but should not be taken to predict a very short life. Dividing a line such as this into years can make it difficult to determine the exact timing of an incident. Generally, an event at 30 years of age will appear as a mark approximately one third of the distance from the beginning of the Life Line - but if the line later grows an extension, then accurately assessing a time scale can be difficult. Moon-Saturn There are orbital connections between the Moon and Saturn. The Moon's orbit in days is equal to Saturn's in years and therefore one secondary progressed Moon orbit equals one transiting Saturn orbit. Both Moon and Saturn are concerned with security. There is a polarity in the chart, as each rules the sign in opposition to the other. As ruler of Cancer, the Moon's connection with emotional security and mothering is recognised. If the Moon's position is not strong, if it is negatively aspected by being overpowered by other planets, such as a hard aspect from Saturn making for a degree of repressive control or inhibition, then insecurity is suggested. When a person is feeling insecure, the fingers may be held closely together and curved into the palm, fearful of standing straight and spreading wide. The Cancer/Capricorn polarity may then come into play and the person looks to Capricornian activity- work, property, structure, material possessions rather than emotional involvement. If the need for security is not met by a comforting and loving family, then it may be looked for in the fabric of the home itself, the property. Fear of loss may even lead to the person holding on too tightly, apparently treating their family as their own property. Some foundation must be sought, whether from home or house. The emotions are by nature fluctuating, and without a firm foundation can be painful and even dangerous. This matter of looking to the opposite sign to counteract weaknesses in one sign can operate through- out the chart. It also comes into play when there's a midpoint planet under stress; for example, with a T-square, that is where two planets are in opposition to each other, with a third planet at a 90 degree angle to the opposing planets. The midpoint planet, at the apex point of the right-angle triangle, is at a stress point, and a stress outlet may be achieved by looking at the point on the chart circle opposite the apex (stressed) planet.
