The U.S.Economy at present by Roy macKinnon July 2008 In the U.S. chart, Neptune is at Virgo 22.25 degrees. At the beginning of June 2008, transiting Uranus was directly opposite at Pisces 22.25 degrees. and transiting Uranus, as it retrogrades, having moved forward beyond this point will be activating the opposition by transit. In the U.S. chart Mars is square to Neptune. Mars is at Gemini 21.23 so clearly transiting Uranus right now is activating a natal square to that Mars and creating a temporary T-square involving Uranus, Neptune and Mars. We have to make up our minds what to make of this temporary T-square. Just to add a bit of confusion to the situation we need to note that transiting Neptune has been hovering around 22-23 degrees of Aquarius, quincunx the U.S. natal Neptune, thereby putting a further focus on the U.S. natal Neptune. Well, here are a few thoughts as they spring to mind. What does natal Neptune stand for in the U.S. chart - Neptune in Virgo in 9th (Sibley-with Sag.Asc) square to Mars in gemini in 7th House? It seems to me that on one level Neptune in 9th House represents (Sag rising) the philosophy or hope of the American Dream of Freedom (Sag). It is based on the industry of its people, their self-sufficiency in food, their engineering and technology, and similar Virgo words, which is in conflict (natal square) with natal Mars in Gemini in 7th House. That is, it is in conflict with vast amounts of energy (Mars) expended in 'doing deals' (Gemini) in business partnerships (7th House). That conflict is between the vision of all men and women to be free and equal (Neptune) and the double talk of Mars, which will do you a deal that is not to your advantage. In a personal chart the astrologer might talk of double standards, of pretended altruism, but concealed self-interest. The astrologer might even talk of deliberate deception, of fraudulent misrepresentation, of the smooth tongue of the con artist. Then along by transit comes Uranus to compound the issue. Please note natal Uranus opposes the U.S. Ascendant (Sibley), thereby strenghtening the significance of Uranus. The transits of Uranus can be quite shocking. If nothing else they are most likely to be revealing. They represent a wake-up call, a revelation involving disillusionment, the reality of self-interest (that is what Mars is about), effectively, exposure to the naked truth. The U.S. Neptune prayer says: 'God helps those who help themselves' - and others. The U.S. Mars prayer says: 'God help those who get caught helping themselves'- to the exclusion of others. Transiting Uranus is the Awakener, the Reality Check. Mars is in Gemini in the U.S. chart. Where is Mercury, the ruler of Gemini? It is in Cancer in the 8th House opposing the U.S. Pluto in Capricorn. So these deals could be secret, under the counter, using borrowed or criminally sourced money. And all this time transiting Neptune in Aquarius is making a quincunx to the U.S. natal Neptune. The American people must decide. Is it time to sort out the Pluto powers that be, or is it time for another Neptune scam? One thing is for sure, when transiting Saturn hits the U.S. Neptune in 2009 and transiting Pluto opposes the U.S. Venus, the time of the fairy story will be at an end because the myth busters will have arrived - and they will tell it like it is.
