Ob 5th August, 2010 there was an accident at the San Jose copper and gold mine at Copiapo in Chile. There was a collapse which trapped underground 33 men who were working miners. The accident was reported to the authorities who advised the incident occurred at 17-05 UT. Search and rescue teams bored holes in an attempt to discover if there were any survivors. On 22nd August, after 17 days underground, the miners attached notes to drills and confirmed the survival of all 33 missing men – a quite remarkable turn of events.As the weeks turned to months and better boreholes were established it became possible to send food, letters and medicine to the incarcerated miners. They were advised that it could take several months to free them from their prison. In the event it took only 69 days to bring all 33 to the surface through the use of the Phoenix Capsule which brought up each man individually.The incident has attracted much media attention and well it might. It is wholly exceptional. Firstly, the rescue of these men is from a mine much deeper than that of any other previous rescue. Secondly, the miners have survived underground for longer than any previous recorded incident and thirdly every single miner was brought to the surface alive and in relatively good health. But is any of the astrology that remarkable ?I used three charts. Firstly, there is the Chile National Chart which as advised by Nick Campion is 5th April, 1818 at 2pm LMT for Santiago, following the successful independence Battle of Maipu. Secondly, the collapse of the mine was advised to authorities as 5-05pm or 17-05 UT for Copiaco in Chile. The third chart is the horoscope for the first rescued miner to reach the surface which occurred on 13th October, 2010 at 3-10 UT.All three charts are significant and not surprisingly Jupiter assumes an extraordinary role. Firstly, in the Natal chart of Chile, Jupiter is found at Capricorn 12-01. When the mine collapsed on 5th August, the Moon’s Node was closely conjunct this Jupiter at Capricorn 11-41. Interestingly, too, the 1818 Natal Pluto was located at Pisces 25-20. When the miners were brought to the surface and freed from their incarceration on 13th October Jupiter was to be found at Pisces 25-40. When the mine collapsed, Jupiter smiled even then. The Ascendant was at Sagittarius 3-19 in perfect trine to Jupiter at Aries 3-07. Note also that as the first miner was brought back to the surface the Sun/Moon midpoint at Scorpio 24-33 was trine Jupiter at Pisces 25-40. There are of course other inter-chart connections but the outstanding strength of Jupiter in a variety of related charts is precisely what might have been expected in such astonishing circumstances.
