Barack Obama at 50 4 August 2011 The
The dad-in-chief said this week he was glad to hear his wife, Michelle, still thinks he's "cute".
I have set up a bi-wheel of Obama's natal chart (inner wheel) and his secondary progressed chart (outer wheel) for today. The progressed chart is just that. A chart that shows what progress the planetary positions have made in relation to the natal chart since the day he was born. We look at the aspects between the inner to the outer planets.Firstly, progressed Mars is coming close to a square with natal Saturn. This can be a difficult and tense time. No wonder Obama has been so frustrated with all the goings-on of late, not being able to make headway with his plans would have stirred up a lot of angry feelings towards those who opposed him. Mars is conjunct the pr descendant too and that suggests the need to take into consideration the wishes of others. I think the president has been well aware of that. This difficult energy is going to last a while longer yet. The progressed Sun will oppose the pr Moon at the end of October and square natal Venus for most of next year and shows likely conflict within his relationships. But positively, it can bring appreciation for his accomplishments.
Progressed Mercury squared his natal Saturn for most of last year, which meant having to concentrate his intellect upon the serious business of government. For this next year or so pr Mercury will be moving closer to a square with pr Jupiter and that may push him into opening the mind to solving problems or ....... to procastrinate and waste time and resources. Progressed Venus is quincunx natal Jupiter and suggests the need for financial adjustments. As for transits; transiting Uranus is continuing to bring changes to his family life (square to Venus in Cancer in 5th house) but Neptune and Chiron will be trine it, bringing sensitivity and healing. Transiting Chiron is making a return to its own position in the natal chart. This is a 'Chiron Return' and indicates the ending of one 49-yr cycle and the beginning of another one. As Chiron is the indicator of 'woundedness', it's aspects in the natal chart show the nature of the wound. In Obama's chart it opposes Pluto, which is on the Venus/Neptune midpoint and indicates a deep family wound. However, it makes a Grand trine with Venus and Neptune and is an indication of his genuine sensitivity and compassion for others who have suffered a similar fate. L.S.
From: Mark Mardell BBC NewsHappy Birthday, Mr President. But how many will be singing, like Marilyn, "Thanks, Mr President, for all the things you've done, the battles that you've won"? Barack Obama's 50th birthday may be muted. It's not a week for celebrations. There is a new mood of gloom hanging over the USA, with a bunch of bad economic figures suggesting that the country could slip back into recession. The president has said, yet again, that his relentless focus will be on jobs, and that his cabinet will redouble its efforts in asking "how are we going to put people back to work; how are we going to raise their wages; increase their security; how are we going to make sure that they recover fully, as families and as communities, from the worst recession we've had since the Great Depression?"Politically, as well as economically, Mr Obama does look as if he is still pondering the question, rather than providing the answers. His opponents will suggest not only that he isn't coping with the problem, but that he's made it worse. Next year's election could take place against a very grim background.
"I feel real good about 5-0," he said. "I've got a little greyer since I took this job, but otherwise, I feel pretty good." Mr Obama added that his wife, Michelle, has told him that she still thinks "I'm cute." And I guess that's all that matters, isn't?" he said. Mr Obama was born in 1961 near the end of the baby boom years of 1946-1964. He'll join the more than 4.5 million other boomers who are turning 50 this year, according to the AARP retirement organisation, citing U.S. Census figures. The grey hair around Mr Obama's temples is about the only obvious sign of ageing. He says daughters "Malia and Sasha say it makes me look distinguished. Michelle says it makes me look old." The first lady also talks about seeing the "worry creasing his face." The 6-foot-1 president is as lanky as he was when he took office. He's gained no noticeable amount of weight despite a level of job stress that would send most people to the refrigerator for relief on a nightly basis. He has stuck to a regimen of near daily exercise that includes treadmill runs, weightlifting and weekend games of pickup basketball, golf or substitute coaching daughter Sasha's basketball team.Mr Obama is the third US president who belongs to the baby boom generation that came along after World War II, a population of more than 76 million. Bill Clinton was America's first boomer president, followed by George W. Bush.
