Mexico flu sparks worldwide fear by Lis Seddon May 2009Mexican authorities have taken drastic measures to contain a new strain of the swine flu virus that has killed 81 and prompted fears of a global pandemic. People are being urged to stay at home and maintain strict personal hygiene. Many schools, public buildings, bars and restaurants have been closed. Non-fatal cases have been confirmed in the US and are likely in New Zealand. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that at least some of the cases are a new strain of the virus. H1N1 is the same strain that causes seasonal flu outbreaks in humans, but the newly detected version contains genetic material from versions of flu which usually affect pigs and birds. The respiratory virus - which infects pigs but only sporadically humans - is spread mainly through coughs and sneezes. The WHO has warned the virus has the potential to become a pandemic, and has urged all governments to step up surveillance.Below is the chart for Mexico set for 31 Jan 1917, from Nick Campion’s Book of World Horoscopes.
For the past few weeks transiting Jupiter has been moving ever closer to form a conjunction with Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. Neptune conjunct Chiron indicates the confusion and chaos surrounding this infectious disease. Jupiter’s involvement indicates the rapid spread of the flu across other parts of the world. The square from Mercury here means the infection affecting the respiratory system. 20 cases affecting five states have now been reported in the U.S.A. and precautionary measures have been taken in Scotland, where two people returned from Mexico with flu-like symptoms. However, it can also mean an inflated story, which is something we also need to be aware of.When the news of the scale of the flu was made public Mercury was at 25 degrees of Taurus, making a square aspect to that Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune stellium in Aquarius. Makes me wonder if we are being told the whole story? Or if more facts are to come out of which we are yet unaware? One thing is for sure, transiting Jupiter has still some way to go before it is exactly conjunct Chiron and Neptune, so this disease is likely to spread some more and won't go away just yet.P.S. When these planets are separating the disease is likely to affect less people. We need to wait and see what happens when Jupiter goes direct again and conjuncts Neptune for a 2nd time later this year.
In the chart of Mexico, Mars and Uranus are conjunct in Aquarius at 17 and 19 degrees resp. It would appear that when the authorities first became aware of the disease, transiting Jupiter was conjunct that point and transiting Uranus was conjunct the Mexico Chiron at 23 degrees Pisces. The Mexican chart has a Jupiter square Neptune/Saturn aspect. Transiting Saturn at 15 degrees Virgo is on the midpoint of that Jupiter/Neptune square right now and echoes the energies of the natal chart.Natal Pluto is conjunct the Moon/Neptune midpoint at 3 degrees of Cancer, being opposed by transiting Pluto at 3 degrees of Capricorn.
