Lloyd-ScottCharity Man

Lloyd Scott- The Fundraiser 28 July 2011

Lloyd Scott, MBE (born 13 October 1961 in Rainham, London) is an English charity fundraiser, best known in the UK for his charity marathons. He is notable for competing in the 2002 London Marathon in a deep-sea diving costume during which he broke the world record for slowest marathon time. The diving suit he wore is now on display at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. The number he wore is still attached to the suit on display. After surviving leukaemia, Scott has raised more than £4 million for cancer charities, such as Children with Leukemia, through what he calls "alternative charity fundraising events", including the following: 1993: Everest Marathon, 1998: 135-mile Death Valley Ultra Marathon, 2002: London Marathon in a deep sea diving suit, 2003: Loch Ness Underwater Marathon, 2004: Penny farthing ride across Australia, 2006: London Marathon, wearing suit of armour, dragging 300lb (140kg) dragon, 2007: London Marathon, dressed as Indiana Jones dragging a boulder, 2011: Crawled London Marathon in 26 days dressed as Brian the snail from The Magic Roundabout.

But the challenge the 49-year-old is most famous for is walking the London Marathon wearing a deep sea diving suit in 2002. Ten years on, the former footballer and fire-fighter plans to repeat the challenge for a second time, at next year's marathon, before retiring from the event. And he is offering his services for the last time to whichever charity he feels he will be able to raise the most money for. "Everybody remembers the diving suit," he said. "And it was great for me, as it happened 12 miles from my front door," added the man who crawled around the course this year as Brian the Snail from the Magic Roundabout for the Action For Kids charity. It took him 26 gruelling days to complete the course. The charity terminated his contract as director of fundraising less than two weeks after, claiming that he did not raise enough money for them. "Even though I felt my dismissal was unjust and should have been handled far better, I managed the intense pressure it placed on me and my reputation with a great deal of dignity and integrity," he said. "I had tremendous support and sympathy from the public but I have a proven track record and I certainly don't want to finish on that note," added the father of three, who was born in east London and now lives in Essex.Explaining how the miles have taken their toll, he said: "Soon I will be 50 - 10 years older than when I did the marathon in a diving suit the first time. "I have two replacement hips, had over 20 operations and have to go into hospital shortly for a knee replacement, so my fundraising ventures have come at a cost. "But I want to go out with a bang and raise a considerable sum for whoever it will be."By wearing the 130lb (69kg) deep sea diving suit again, he hopes to "bow out raising loads of money and putting smiles on lots of faces".Lloyd Scott was born on 13 October 1961, London, UK. Time not known, so noon used.In astrology, charitable deeds are often connected to a strong Neptune. And in Lloyd's chart he has a close conjunction of Mercury, Mars and Neptune in Scorpio making a close helpful aspect to Pluto in Virgo and Chiron in Pisces. This perfectly explains what Lloyd has been doing over the years and his reaons for doing it: His personal confrontation with death through his leukemia (Pluto in Virgo) set in motion his charitable acts, which took tremendous strength and will-power (stellium in Scorpio sextile Pluto).

(Andy Dangerfield, BBC News, London)

It was his way of helping those who were experiencing a similar situation (Chiron in Pisces). His Sun squares a Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn and indicates the many challenges to his vitality that he will be faced with from time to time. The trine to Venus the financial reward for his determination to succeed. The sextile aspect from the Sun to the Moon's Node (conjunct Uranus) indicates his associations with groups involving children and his acceptance by the public for his participation in sporting events that were seen to be fun and 'different'.As all his fundraising events involved the joints one way or another, I am not surprised to see that he has had both hips replaced and is awaiting a knee replacement. Could be another manifestation of Sun square Saturn-Jupiter. Not having his t.o.b. limits interpretation as far as the houses and the Moon are concerned but I think it is probably in Sagittarius.
