Global Financial Turmoil 8 November 2011
The financial chaos in Greece is having international repercussions. It is like a domino effect where firstly the Euro is affected, then major economies abroad like China, USA and the UK and ultimately the whole of the world. Not that Greece should be expected to shoulder all the responsibility of the chaos. While it is true that the Greek financial situation is such that bankruptcy is a very likely outcome, the EU has to accept much blame since there has been inadequate fiscal control of EU member states by the European Central Bank. In Greece there is much inefficiency and the public sector emphasises this by employing far too many people. Additionally, corruption is rife even amongst professional workers who notoriously avoid paying tax thereby further reducing the Greek government’s ability to handle its enormous indebtedness.Look at the horoscope of Greece. According to Nick Campion the modern state of Greece commenced its democracy on 24th July, 1974 at 4 AM (EET) for Athens on 23E43, 37N58. In the horoscope Pluto and Moon closely conjunct one another at Libra 4. Venus is in square at Cancer 3. Clearly, transiting Pluto at 4 degr. of Capricorn in 2010 exposed the damaging debt crisis. At the beginning of November 2011, the damage is coming from transiting Saturn as it conjuncts the Greek Uranus at Libra 23 degrees and Uranus is afflicted by an opposition from Chiron. This aspect will be exact by the middle of November and already the tension, stress and unpredictability of the conjunction is apparent. It seems as though Greece is in a hopeless situation with its debt and while the conjunction on this occasion may not herald the demise of Greece from the euro zone, the future looks very bleak when Saturn later retrogrades and stations exactly on the Greek Uranus in June of 2012. At that time, if Greece is still in the euro zone, I would expect a final default and resulting exit from the euro zone.
Italy is the first country to suffer already by contagion from the Greek situation. However, the debt problem is on a vastly greater scale. Whereas the Greek situation involves a debt position of some Euro 200 Billion, Italy’s borrowings total some Euro 2 Trillion, an amount ten times greater. To cope with the possibility of default here, the euro zone pundits created what is known as the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF). However, how it is to be funded remains an enormous problem. Germany refuses through the Bundesbank or the European Central Bank to agree funding. Also, China refuses to subscribe to the EFSF. This has had the knock-on effect of increasing the interest rate on Italian bonds to an almost impossible to pay 6.4%. In normal times the interest rate would be a quarter of this or less. The likelihood of Italy defaulting is similar to Greece but because of the size of the debt it is a much more dangerous situation. Of course there are other shaky economies like Spain and Portugal but we’ll use Italy as an example. The Italian chart is for the creation of the republic after the war and is set for 10th June, 1946 at 6-10 PM CET for Rome on 12E29, 41N54. Saturn is conjunct Venus. Mercury is in the 8th house and the Moon, its ruler is in Scorpio in the 12th in square to Pluto. And Mercury is in square to Neptune, the planet of investments, deception, fraud and losses. Neptune is posited at Libra 5-51, which is squared right now by transiting Pluto in Capricorn, and Pluto is the planet of indebtedness. It seems very doubtful if Italy can survive this transit. All the debt and corruption will most likely bring down the Italian economy.Germany has been the economic engine of the euro zone but their problems are also highlighted astrologically. The horoscope which is most recent is that of the unification of East and West Germany. The political union occurred on 3rd October, 1990 at 00 Hours CET in Berlin on 13E25 and 52N32. Leo rises and Germany is certainly the king of the euro zone. Pluto the planet of borrowing and indebtedness is well aspected, being closely trine the Moon and sextile to Saturn. Consequently, it is no surprise that Germany manages its economy well and is flourishing. The German Venus is at the beginning of Libra and square to Uranus. Libra can certainly represent Germany’s euro-partners but Uranus rules Aquarius which holds the cusp of 7th House of partnership. The affliction of Venus square Uranus certainly makes for problems in partnerships. The square suggests that Venus as a symbol of economic soundness needs to distance itself from its partners here represented by Uranus. Additionally, transiting Pluto is very closely conjunct the same Uranus thus highlighting borrowing and debt problems especially since Venus is opposed very closely right now by Transiting Uranus and the energy of this configuration smacks of financial independence which is precisely the current financial policy of Angela Merkel, the leader of Germany. She insists on doing nothing that will further weaken the financial wellbeing of her country. Osborne, the U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer, has suggested the European Central Bank use quantitative easing and print Euros in abundance to cope with any euro zone country such as Italy in a debt default situation. Merkel will have none of it. Printing money simply creates inflation and Merkel has worked long and hard to prevent this and keep the German economy strong. It seems as though either Germany must leave the euro zone or allow the likes of Italy to default on its debts. Either way, the euro zone is in peril of collapsing with global ramifications for all major economies. This would include the USA which has been printing money as if there was no tomorrow and whose indebtedness is in excess of $ Ten Trillion. The Sibly Chart Jupiter is perfectly opposed right now by Transiting Pluto suggesting the USA must pay the price for printing dollars. Various countries including China are now quite concerned that the world’s global reserve currency is proving to be a bad investment as it is cheapened. It may not be long before the dollar is discarded as global reserve currency and the economy of the USA placed in dire straits. The Sibly chart is dated 4th July, 1776 at 4-50 PM LMT for Philadelphia on 75W10 and 39N57. The world is on the brink of financial catastrophe. RM
