The Communist Party of China 1st July 2011 from Wikipedia and the BBC news
China is preparing to mark the 90th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Communist Party. It has ruled China since 1949, when it defeated Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist Party in a civil war. Many thought it would never win. When it was founded in Shanghai in 1921 it had just 53 members and spent most of the civil war poorly armed, isolated and under attack. It now has 80 million members and has never looked stronger. The ancient Chinese civilization—one of the world's earliest—flourished in the fertile basin of the Yellow River which flows through the North China Plain. China's political system was based on hereditary monarchies (also known as dynasties) from time of the Xia (approx. 2000 BC). However, it was the Qin Dynasty that first unified China in 221 BC. The last dynasty, the Qing, ended in 1911 with the founding of the Republic of China (ROC) by the Kuomintang (KMT), the Chinese Nationalist Party. The first half of the 20th century saw China plunged into a period of disunity and civil wars that divided the country into two main political camps – the Kuomintang and the communists. Major hostilities ended in 1949, when the communists essentially won the civil war and established the People's Republic of China in mainland China.
The KMT-led Republic of China relocated their capital to Taipei on Taiwan; its jurisdiction is now limited to Taiwan, Kinmen, Matsu and several outlying islands. Since then, the People's Republic of China (PRC) has been involved in political disputes with the Republic of China over issues of sovereignty, the political status of Taiwan, and battle for international diplomatic recognition.Since the introduction of market-based economic reforms in 1978, China has become the world's fastest growing major economy, the world's largest exporter and second largest importer of goods. It is the world's second largest economy by both nominal GDP and purchasing power parity (PPP) and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. It is also a member of formal/informal multilateral organizations including the WTO, APEC, BRIC, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and G-20. China is a recognized nuclear weapons state and has the world's largest standing army with the second-largest defense budget. China has been characterized as a potential superpower by a number of academics, military analysts, and public policy and economics analysts.President Hu Jintao has warned members of the Communist Party of China that corruption could cost them the support and trust of the people. Mr Hu made the comments in an address in the Great Hall of the People in the capital, Beijing, marking the 90th anniversary of founding of the CPC. He praised the CPC's achievements since taking power in 1949, but said members had to be more disciplined than ever. In the months leading up to this anniversary, the authorities launched their biggest crackdown against dissidents in almost 20 years. "In some historical periods, we once made mistakes and even suffered severe setbacks, the root cause of which was that our guiding thought then was divorced from China's reality," he said, without mentioning the campaigns and polices that led to the deaths of millions of people. "Our party managed to correct the mistakes by the strength of itself and the people, rose up amid the setbacks and continued to go forward victoriously." "Today, a vibrant socialist China has emerged in the East and the 1.3 billion Chinese people are marching ahead, full of confidence under the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics," he added. But he warned that the CPC was "confronted with growing pains", and that the "incompetence" of some members and their "being divorced from the people" had created problems for the country. If not effectively curbed, corruption could threaten the party's legitimacy, he said.
Let us take a look at the chart of the date when the Communist Party of China came to power. 1 October 1949, 15.15 AWST, Peking. (Nick Campion's ' The Book of World Horoscopes')The first noticable aspect is the Moon conjunct the Aquarian ascendant suggesting a peoples' ruled party. It makes a quincunx to Uranus in Cancer, the chart ruler, but is trine the Sun, which is square Uranus. This combination suggests that detachment and lack of emotional response lie at the heart of the party. The Sun is part of a stellium with Mercury and Neptune in Libra and an indication that communication with partners is anything but open and clear. In fact, as Neptune squares Jupiter in Capricorn in the 12th house, one is inclined to think that their philosophies are affected by a dose of unrealism and self-deception. That they are singleminded in pushing through their values and in their pursuit of wealth can be attributed to the Mars-Pluto conjunction in Leo square Venus in Scorpio. Their success made more likely with the sextile from Mars-Pluto to Mercury-Neptune. Neptune rules the 2nd house of values and Mercury rules the 8th house of joint resources where Saturn is on the Mars/Mercury-Neptune midpoint. This suggests that discipline and hard work are the order of the day and that communication is controlled in order to keep their socialist values alive. L.S.
